Tensions are high in the first month of the annual Senior Assassin game, but the list of senior activities is just beginning. From sunrise to sunset, senior year is filled with tons of fun highlights to make the last year the best it can be. Here are some of the exciting activities that seniors participate in during spring semester:

  1. Senior Assassin (February - June)

Every year, hundreds of seniors sign up to play this stressful game of counting kills. With a pot of money and the glory of winning motivating them, students ready their water guns and wait to be assigned their victim. Seniors spend months, until the end of the year, taking down as many opponents as possible and trying to avoid their own assassin. After the first kill, assassins are assigned that senior’s victim, and go on like this to hopefully be the last person standing.

At the end of the year, the survivor and the person with the most kills gets a section of the pot, and the game organizer takes a little off the top for their hard work managing all the seniors. This year’s organizer and Senior Class President, Callie Ritter, has had a lot of fun getting things going. “Senior Assassin is going pretty good! It’s been a little stressful. There are a lot of people and a lot of moving parts… but I try my best,” said Ritter.

So far, the game has been going pretty smoothly, and seniors are having fun chasing each other around town. Senior Assassin will only get more exciting as the number of participants gets narrowed down further and seniors are still waiting to see who will win that cash.

2. Senior Sunset

The follow up to Senior Sunrise at the beginning of the year, Senior Sunset is the final return to begin wrapping up the school year. Senior Sunset is completely student run, so seniors are promised an event that they will really enjoy. Students watch the sunset, hang with friends, and get ready to get going.

3. Senior Week (May 19 - May 23)

Full of tasty food and the long-anticipated Senior Trip, Senior Week winds down the last year, a few weeks before graduation, and gets students excited for that last day. Seniors can pay at a discounted price to receive a special snack and lunch to enjoy with their peers for that entire week.

The Senior Trip is in the middle of Senior Week and an event that students look forward to for the entire year. In years past, students have been on boats, gone to San Francisco, and much more. It’s guaranteed that seniors will go on an epic trip this time around too.

This year’s seniors can look forward to this week in late May for yummy treats and the long-awaited adventure.

4. Senior Night/Project Grad (June 6)

Just after graduation, seniors meet up for one last hurrah before senior year is truly over. Project Grad is a party organized by a team of parents to reward their students after their last year of high school, signifying the end of childhood. The big event is on the day of graduation and seniors spend that night, into the wee hours of the morning, celebrating with friends and classmates.

Senior activities are a highlight for all students during their final year of high school and students spend the year looking forward to participating in the trends they have been hearing about for the last four years. Senior Erin Kelleher, who has been having fun with Senior Assassin and other senior events, said that senior trends are important because “they bring classes together.” She explained, “Out of all the years, this is probably the one that I have felt closest to my class.”
