Around the League: spring sports arrive

Men's Soccer: The men’s soccer team finished 13-5-2 and went 8-3-1 in the North Bay League. They made it to the quarterfinals of the NCS Division two playoffs where they lost to Bishop O’Dowd High School.

Women’s Soccer: The women’s soccer team finished their season with a record of 12-5-5 while going 7-2-1 in the North Bay League. Their season finished in the NCS semifinals with a loss to California High School in penalty kicks.

Women’s Basketball: The women’s basketball team ended their great season undefeated in the North Bay League going 10-0 and going 21-5 overall. They made it to the quarterfinals in the NCS playoffs.

Baseball: The baseball team has started off this season with a record of 4-7-1 in non-league games with defeats to Marin Catholic, Tamalpais, and Vintage High School. They are led by junior pitcher Josh Volmerding and senior pitcher Wesley Allen. However, the Pumas seem to be back on track and getting prepared for their first league game coming against Cardinal Newman High School on April 6. 

Softball: The softball team is currently 6-3 overall, winning their first two league games. They have started off this season with a bang beating Santa Rosa High School 18-1 and then beating Ukiah High School 17-1. The team is led by junior Madison Cooper who pitches, hits, and has helped MCHS destroy these teams. Her sister Brooke and junior Olivia Rivera have also been very influential on the hitting side to help in these wins.  

Badminton: The badminton team has been very successful so far in their season winning each matchup so far easily and starting off the season 7-0. They are led by senior Justin Wang for the boys and Leanna Baltonado for the girls. 
Track and Field: The MCHS track and field team had their first NCS Opening meet, the Big Cat Invitational, recently where many MCHS students had great success. The boys 4x400 teams finished 1 and 2 in their first meet.
