Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles got to party with the Lombardi after a dominating win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams started scoreless, punting the ball on both opening drives of the game. Philadelphia’s first drive was cut short on a very controversial 4th&2 offensive pass interference call on AJ Brown. This didn't come as a surprise to anyone because the Chiefs have allegedly gotten some help from the refs before. The Eagles were up big at the half. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, they found themselves in a 24-point hole during Kendrick’s halftime show.
The Chief’s offensive line had Maholmes scrambling all over the field. Safe to say that he had no time to throw the ball downfield as the constant pressure from the Eagles' defensive line led to six sacks at the end of the game. Mahomes also threw two interceptions, where one was a pick-6 thrown to cornerback Cooper DeJean, a standout rookie this year who became an instant star after being drafted 40th overall in the second round of last year's draft. The second interception was thrown to free-agent signing of-the-year linebacker Zach Baun, who put the Eagles back in scoring position late in the first half.
These crucial mistakes early led to a somewhat better but still very lackluster half for the Chiefs. They were able to score twenty-two points, but in garbage time after the Eagles put most of their defensive starters on the bench. Xavier Worthy caught two touchdown passes late in the game, but they ultimately meant nothing because of the big eighteen-point gap at the end of the game.
Jalen Hurts, after a stinging loss against the Chiefs two years ago in Super Bowl LVII, seemingly got his revenge this game, throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns and running for 72 yards. Hurts outran his offensive player of the year in Saquon Barkley, who was bottled up all game and only ran for 57 yards. With this performance, the Eagles went marching on to victory in New Orleans and will have their parade on Friday, the 14th.
