If you have nothing planned, spring break as a “staycationer” can make you wish you were at school. But don’t worry, these fun activities can liven up anyone’s week bringing excitement and adventure to what would otherwise be an average day.

A simple way to spice up your routine is by trying your hand at some fun, crafty projects. If you want an easy way to switch up your wardrobe on a budget, try making your own graphic t-shirts. Start by buying or thrifting a plain t-shirt and some fabric pens and patches from a nearby craft store. Then, go to town writing fun phrases or drawing cute pictures on your shirt. You can even do this activity with a group of friends and make matching shirts. The best part is when you finish you will have a new, one of a kind t-shirt that shows off your unique personality. And you don’t have to stop there, you can try this with an old pair of pants, shoes, a hoodie or any other clothing item. While you're at the craft store, pick up some paint and canvases too. With these supplies you can finger paint and make some art even if you're not that artistic. Drive down to a scenic location for some inspiration or paint from the comfort of your own home. If you do this with friends you can switch canvases every few minutes and create something together.

Another easy way to have more fun during spring break is to hang out with friends. Try hosting a dinner party where everyone can bring their favorite food. You can dress up, enjoy eachothers company, and eat amazing food. You can even have a theme for the food people bring or the outfits you wear; some interesting themes could be different colors, your favorite characters, or the first letter of your name. You could also try hosting a game night with friends. You could spend a night playing games, eating snacks, and listening to music.

If you have more time on your hands to plan, and love nature, try planning a short camping trip. Camping doesn’t have to be a hardcore activity, you can camp for one or two nights on a campsite close to your house. Some popular campgrounds in Sonoma County are Sugarloaf, Doran Regional Park, and Spring Lake Regional Park. If you camp somewhere close you can easily go back to your house if you forget something, or pick up food from a local restaurant if you don’t want to cook. All Day hikes can be another great way to get out the house, and the views can be worth the effort it takes to get there. McWay Falls, one of the only waterfalls in California that goes directly into the ocean, is a hike that will take most of the day but is well worth it for the view of the waterfall. Other beautiful hikes include the Bummer Peak Trail, the Ridge Trail in Shiloh Ranch Regional Park, and the Sea to Sky Trail in the Jenner Headlands Preserve. If you're looking to add a more historical element to your hikes try the trails at the Jack London State Park.

Spring break at home can be more than just a week without homework; it can be a time to explore new places and spend time with friends without the pressures of school. This list is just a few of the interesting things you can do during break, there is a lot out there to explore.
