After a suspenseful two-week wait, the results for Maria Carrillo High School’s student body elections were released on the afternoon of March 26 over the school’s PA system:
For MCHS’s current freshmen, Yihe Wang is President, with Ellie Choi as Vice President, Tava Carrillo as Secretary, and Chloe Griffin-Holm as the Treasurer. Together, they will represent the class of 2028’s sophomore year as they enter the 2025-2026 school year.
Meanwhile, Sienna Denault was elected President of the current sophomore class for the junior year 2027. Kate Kearney will be Vice President, Emma Lenzi will be selected as Secretary, and Sydney Buonnaccorsi will be elected Treasurer.
Representing this year’s juniors, Madison Denault was elected President of the class of 2026’s senior year, Sam Hatfield was to be the Secretary, and Tyler Marshall was elected Treasurer. There were no class of 2026 candidates for Vice President.
Seniors however, do not vote for their next year’s class positions, so they are the only class that will not have student body officials for the school year of 2025-2026.
As for the ASB positions, Leland Irvine is now the President, Travis Melton is the Vice President, Aubrey Schneider is the Multimedia Coordinator, Ben Stark is the Secretary, and Milo Wiese is the Treasurer.
Many officers have promised more transparency and sympathy towards Maria Carrillo High School students. When asked for comments after her victory in the election, future junior vice president Kate Kearney said, “I want to inform people on school consolidations and different closures, [and] how that’s going to impact people.”
